We have seen that God has acted four times on annual Sabbath days in ages past to work great miracles in the fulfillment of His plan. There are four annual Sabbaths remaining, portending the events that finish the plan of God.
The next Holy Day in the cycle is the Feast of Trumpets. The prophetic meaning of this day is revealed in the books of Joshua and Revelation. The symbology of Joshua and Revelation are strikingly similar. The most easily recognized theme is that of the seven trumpets in both books. There is strong indication that events surrounding the siege of Jericho are types or forerunners of the events described in Revelation, when Christ will return to take back the kingdoms of this world and transform them into the Kingdom of God at the blowing of the seventh trumpet.
The theme of Revelation is "The Day of the Lord." The apostle, John, describes a vivid and bizarre vision that was given to him by Jesus Christ. Notice the reference to trumpets in this chapter and elsewhere through the book of Revelation:
REV 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
Contrary to popular belief, John is not referring to Sunday when he says that he had this vision on the Lord's Day. He is referring to the Day of the Lord, described in many Old Testament prophecies as a day of awesome intervention.
Isa 2:12 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:
JER 46:10 For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
JOE 2:1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
And finally...
ZEC 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
The next event prophesied by the Holy Day cycle is the return to earth of Jesus Christ, pictured by the Feast of Trumpets. Just as Jericho fell in the time of Joshua at the blast of the priest's trumpets, the world's kingdoms will fall before the returning Jesus Christ when the seventh angel sounds his trumpet.
REV 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded [his trumpet]; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,
17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
On that day, the Day of the Lord, when the seventh angel sounds his trumpet, The Messiah will return to take over rulership of the earth. This is the day when the Lord will give reward to His servants, the prophets and the saints. It is the day when the saints are resurrected from the sleep of death to eternal life. Isn't this an appointment with God that you desire with all your being to keep?
The returning Christ will set up the Kingdom of God on the earth. He will establish the seat of world wide government at Jerusalem. There will be a thousand years of peace, prosperity and blessings for humankind. The Feast of Tabernacles and the other annual Sabbaths will be universally observed by all nations in the Kingdom of God. God will punish those nations who refuse to observe the feasts.
ZEC 14:16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain. 18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. 19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Man will live in harmony and unity with God here on the earth. This unity or "Atonement" with God results from the next event prophesied by the Holy Days.
